Bespoke Solutions
Wombat Web create website solutions from client specifications, and we also maintain existing client websites located all around the world. Categorised below are all of the most popular software applications that we have designed.

E-mail Solutions
We can provide a number of different email integration solutions, including custom web interfaces for access to your email (POP or IMAP email accounts.) We can also set up a low-cost dedicated mail server for your company, with full anti-spam and anti-virus protection, email-to-fax services, whitelists, auto-deletion from mailing lists, and many other powerful facilities not found in other solutions.
Mailing Lists
Mailing lists allow you to build a list of contacts and/or customers and then mailshot these whenever you like. We can build you a web-based interface to manage your mailing list, and allow people to subscribe and unsubscribe themselves. We also have solutions for ensuring lists stay up-to-date and that bounces are removed from the list automatically, saving you the problem of keeping the list accurate.
Content Management Systems
Content Management is a facility whereby you can publish information on your website without any knowledge of the underlying codes (tags) that make up web pages. Around 70% of our client websites are content-managed. Content Management utilises a database so that information can be accessed and updated in 24 hours a day, from any computer where there is Internet access. The CMS is a secure (encrypted) area, and is normally part of the clients own website.
Photo Albums
A photo album allows you to upload pictures and display them to a public or private audience. The album is content-managed and allows full control over all content. A whole range of effects can be utilised, such as lightbox galleries and many other visual effects.
Forums
Forums are feedback systems that allow subjects to be discussed online, and are used extensively on the Internet. A forum is a group of threads, a group of discussions with a hierarchy of replies by different people. A person can create a new subject thread or respond to an existing thread. Moderation of forums is essential to ensure the content is appropriate. We can create you bespoke forum software for public or private use, or integrate another existing product with your own website.
Ticketing Systems
Ticketing Systems are similar to forums, and are used mainly as a support service, whereby queries and questions by users/customers are stored (ticketed) and then answered by a support representative. The end-user and support person can then deal with each persons ticket and then when an issue is finalised, mark the ticket as complete. In this way, a company can see all of the support enquiries it has received and which remain outstanding etc.
Vouchers
Vouchers are mainy used in Electronic Commerce websites, and can be issued electronically. We have built solutions for companies that allow electronic vouchers (e-vouchers) to be created and issued to customers. Each e-voucher has a monetary value and can be used at the check-out stage to reduce the customers total. E-vouchers are therefore very useful as gifts, and save you the problem of printing and issuing paper-based alternatives.
Quizzes
We have built a number of web-based quizzes for clients. Quizzes are classed as "sticky" applications, in that they keep users on a customers website for longer. They can be used in combination with a league table so that people can see who the quiz leaders are. Quizzes can be time-based or score based, or both. A Content Management System manages the quiz data and league table.
Document Indexing and Searching
Many organisations now store documents in a multitude of formats. Wombat Web has much expertise in indexing and searching documents, especially using the industry standard Verity™ tool, which allows the content of documents such as Adobe PDF and Microsoft DOC to be indexed and searched along with other database content, providing a seamless site-search facility.
Really Simple Syndication (RSS)
RSS is a system that allows you to publish content from your website and share (syndicate) it with other websites. Many thousands of free and commercial RSS "feeds" are now available. If you have information that you want to syndicate, contact us about RSS.
Menu Navigaton Systems
A key part of any website is its navigation. We have written many different types of navigation systems for our clients, and we also use a number of free and commercial third-party products as well. The choice of system depends on the amount of information in the menu as a whole, for example this page utilises a drop-down menu with pop-out sub-menus. Menus can be created on-the-fly from a database, for example a list of products for sale could be organised into different menus and categories automatically. Menus also now have to be accessible and Search Engine Friendly.
Accessible Websites
Websites can be designed using a variety of different standards and techniques. We can ensure that your website is accessible to the widest audience possible. Some countries, such as the United States and United Kingdom, have published government guidelines about accessibility to ensure that websites are visible to people who are blind or parially sighted, for example. There are tools that examine websites for their level of accessibility, and rankings are awarded (from level A up to to AAA for the most accessible websites.) Wombat Web have recently designed a sophisticated Content Managed website for a large London law firm that has to be legally compliant with accessibility guidelines in the United Kingdom. The site, which is AA ranked, utilises a number of additional special features that monitor the complexity of the content on the website. It will come as a surprise to many that the wording of your website can affect Search Engine rankings, as well as accessibility rankings. Click here for more details of this and other projects. This website is designed to allow font sizes to be increased and the page width to be increased. These accessability options can also be used on your website. In addition, we can design your site to adhere to the latest Web design standards, such as XHTML and CSS) to ensure that they can be viewed on a range of different devices to ensure that they can be viewed on a range of different other than a standard web browser. These days people are just as likely to arrive at your website on a Inernet phone as they are from a traditional computer.
Social Networking
Social networking, or Web 2.0, enompasses a range of technologies that bring together networks of people. Wombat Web can design software to integrate with many such systems, e.g. Twitter and Facebook. We also use and support many popular blogging environments, e.g. WordPress and Blogger.
Mobile Device Solutions
There are now more mobile devices than computers in the world, and the vast majority of these devices are Internet capable. Wombat Web have designed a range of applications for Mobile devices, such as phones and PDAs (Portable Digital Assistants.) We have utilised the WAP standard to implement client "micro-applications." We can also interface to other services, such as SMS to deliver content to mobile phones, and also to services such as Instant Messaging (IM) e.g. AIM and MSN etc.
